Position Title: Foreman

Location: Baytown, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a diligent shop foreman to oversee the day-to-day operations of our company. In this role, you will supervise all operations personnel and ensure the efficiency of operations. You will also be required to manage work schedule and enforce safety regulations.

To ensure success as a shop foreman, you should be highly organized and have excellent communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch shop foreman should be able to anticipate and address hindrances to operational efficiency.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervising and training staff.
  • Creating and managing the staff, maintenance, and work schedules.
  • Ensuring employees have what they need to be staged in advance.
  • Overseeing work to anticipate, preplan, detect, and address factors that impede operations.
  • Enforcing safety regulations and protocols.
  • Ensuring employees are working safely.
  • Conducting performance reviews, coaching and implement training with staff.
  • Meeting with director of operations to deliver feedback and develop work optimization strategies.
  • Implementing strategies to optimize workflow and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring that all equipment and machinery are properly operated and maintained.
  • Assigning daily task and setting expectations on completing the task assigned to each employee.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as tracking attendance, enforcing company policies, and staff schedules.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

Required/ Preferred Education, Experience & Certification:

  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • A great understanding of work optimization techniques.
  • Good knowledge of the applicable safety regulations and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities.
  • Good time management and problem-solving skills.
  • A willingness to work long hours, overtime and rotational shift, if needed.
  • Experience in welding is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Able to read engineering drawings and work instructions, preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 + years of experience as a shop foreman or similar.
  • Knowledge of material types.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Must have full mobility in bending and squatting.
  • Must be able to stand or walk on feet for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder or harness system up to 4 feet high.

CONDITIONS

  • Manufacturing floor, confined space, and exposure to dust and fumes related to the industry well within safety standards. Exposed to changing and inclement weather conditions.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Report safety hazards.
  • Immediately report incidents involving illness, injury or property damage.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as instructed.
  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures and rules.
  • Refuse any unsafe tasks or operation.
  • Participation in safety meetings and training.
  • Keep constant awareness of their personal safety and that of coworkers.
  • Awareness of occupational hazards.
  • Hazardous material knowledge.
  • Comfortable in confined space 15 inch inside diameter to size of tank entry.
  • Participation in safety meetings and training.
  • Be aware of personal safety as well as that of team members to promote a safe work environment.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Basic work schedule is Monday through Friday. Hours are based of production needs. Employee must adapt to schedule changes as required due to business needs. This position could require weekends, nightshift, rotating schedules, holidays, mandatory overtime, and on-call.
