Position Title: Journeyman Electrician

Location: Baytown, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for installing, repairing, connecting, testing, and maintaining electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, and communications. Read & interpret electrical schematics. Install and terminate wiring, build, and terminate wire harnesses.  Install electrical components, program and set-up all components, install 12- & 2-volt lighting systems and troubleshoot all. PRIMARY

  • Must be able to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as a multimeter.
  • Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components.
  • Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints, and standards.
  • Calibrate equipment to provided specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components
  • Must be able to troubleshoot 24 VDC/12VDC Systems and conduct preventive maintenance.
  • Must install new electrical equipment as needed.
  • Must make the necessary repairs as quickly as possible to minimize inconvenience.
  • Must replace items such as circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical and electronic components, or wire as needed.

SECONDARY  

  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Maintain communication with contractor or vendor
  • May work with engineers, engineering technicians, or industrial machinery installation, repair, and maintenance workers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES

REQUIRED

  • Journeyman Electrician license in state of practice
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of electrical experience
  • Ability to Design, Build and Install Control Panels
  • Ability to Interpret Electrical Schematics
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak basic English
  • NCCER Electrical certification a plus
  • Hazardous area wiring experience a plus
  • PLC (MicroLogix, RSLogix500 and RSLogix5000) and related wiring knowledge a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee is continually required to talk and hear
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand or walk on feet
  • Must be able to bend, climb, squat, reach, and kneel
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, knives, and hacksaws.

CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed on the manufacturing shop floor and outdoors exposed to inclement weather, changing weather conditions, temperatures, both high and low in the work environment all the time.  Occasionally exposed to noise, dust, fumes, and airborne particles and toxic chemicals well within industry standards.  Monday through Friday, weekends, and holidays.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Basic work schedule is Monday through Friday. Hours are based of production needs. Employee must adapt to schedule changes as required due to business needs. This position could require weekends, nightshift, rotating schedules, holidays, mandatory overtime, and on-call.
