Maintenance Technician

Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Baytown, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean orderly work areas.
  • Knowledge of welding machines and welding seamers.
  • Knowledge of overhead cranes.
  • Knowledge of forklifts.
  • Able to read and understand Electrical Schematics.
  • Must have riggings skills and properly trained to operate over head crane.
  • Must be skilled to operate a grinder, sander, drill, band saw, chop saw, and saw all.
  • Must be able to work (flexible hours) extended hours, to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Walk through the shop for any issues, check the air compressors, and cranes daily.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • High School/GED or equivalent experience required. No certifications required.
  • Must have 5 years previous experience or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
  • 4 plus years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some HVAC experience. Vacuum experience is preferred.
  • Minimum years of experience 1 year in a manufacturing setting, with sheet metal layout experience.
  • Needs to have knowledge of material types.

Required/ Preferred Education, Experience & Certification:

  • Must supply own personal tools.
  • Exceptional skills in speaking, reading and writing English.
  • Workmanship must be maintained to adequate quality control level to meet customer requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee is continually required to talk and hear.
  • Must be able to stand or walk on feet throughout duration of shift.
  • Employee must be capable to lift, pull or push up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work and complete any necessary job off a ladder as needed.
  • Employee must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must have full mobility in bending and squatting.

CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, exposed to inclement weather conditions.
  • Exposed to dust and fumes related to manufacturing industry, well within safety standards.

  • Wear appropriate PPE as instructed.
  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures and rules.
  • Refuse any unsafe tasks or operation.
  • Participation in safety meetings and training.
  • Keep constant awareness of their personal safety and that of coworkers.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Schedule could change based on business needs.

Travel

No regular travel is expected for this position.

Work Authorization

Eligibility to work in the U.S. with the appropriate work authorization documentation.
